53-Year Union Ends
Mrs. H. U. Lehman Of Walnut Grove Dies at Age 75
Funeral Services at 2 P.M. Wednesday, East End Church
A marriage union of 53 years was terminated at 5:25 o'clock this morning with the death at Memorial Hospital of Mrs. Annie (Younker) Lehman, wife of Henry U. Lehman, 132 Wess St., Walnut Grove. Mrs. Lehman was admitted to the hospital as a medical patient at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon. She had been ailing for two years, but had been able to be around the house until two months ago. Mrs. Lehman was born in Paint Twp., Somerset County, on Sept. 21, 1869, a daughter of the late Henry and Catherine (Geisel) Younker. She and Mr. Lehman were united in marriage on June 18, 1891, in the Seventh Ward by Rev. George W. W. Amick, pastor at that time of Trinity Lutheran Church. The couple lived all their married life in Johnstown. Mr. Lehman, a former Cambria Plant employe, is now an elevator operator in the First National Bank Building. Of 10 children born to the couple, four died in infancy. Those surviving are Zella, wife of E. Boyd Callihan, Oakland; Jay C., 220 Morrell Pl.; Nellie, wife of James Clair Koontz, Bedford St.; Henry D., Rodgers Ave., president of Drivers Local Union No. 110; Merle G., Solomon St., Stonycreek Twp., and J. Alvin, 1132 1/2 Wess St. She also leaves 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Four grandsons are in the service. Mrs. Lehman was a sister of Daniel Younker, Solomon St., Stonycreek Twp.; Lewis Younker, Pittsburgh, and Mrs. Martin Clair, Latrobe R.D. 2. Three brothers and two sisters are deceased. She was a member of the Homestead Ave. United Brethren Church, a member of the Dorcas Bible Class of the Sunday school, and also a member of the W.C.T.U. She was a past councilor of Reliable Council, D. of A. Friends will be received at the Geisel Funeral Home until 1 p.m. Wednesday, when the deceased will be removed to the Homestead Ave. United Brethren Church for funeral services at 2 p.m. by Rev. W. G. Hawk, pastor. Interment will be in the family plot in Grandview Cemetery. |
