Father of Prominent Coal Operator Expires at Somerset Aged Seventy-three.
Somerset, July 20. – Jacob J. Zimmerman, father of the well-knowl coal operator, D. H. Zimmerman, died at his home on West Patriot street, Sunday night, aged seventy-three years. He had been sick the past four years, his death resulting from a complication of diseases.
Mr. Zimmerman was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Zimmerman, of Quemahoning Township. He was in the Civil War, having fought with the One-Hundred and Forty-fourth Regiment. He is survived by the following children: D. B. Zimmerman, of Somerset; Mrs. Russell S. Stewart, of Somerset; Alvin W. Zimmerman, of Ralphton; Mrs. Samuel Shaffer, of Quemahoning Township.
At the Zimmerman residence at noon Tuesday services were conducted by the Rev. D.{?} Hiram King, pastor of the Somerset Reformed Church. Interment was made in Mt. Taber Cemetery. |
