CRESSON--John Krug, aged 71, of Munster Township died yesterday in Windber Hospital after an extended illness of a complication of diseases. He had been a patient at the hospital for the past three weeks.

Mr. Krug was born near Spangler on Sept. 26, 1867, and located in Munster Township 25 years ago. He has been engaged in farming for many years.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth (Illig) Krug, and these children: Pius Krug, at home; Mrs. Esther Murphy, Cresson, and Archie Krug, Cresson. He also leaves 16 grandchildren and these brothers and sisters: Jacob Krug, Cherry Tree; Edward Krug, Spangler; Mrs. Barbara Kirsch, Nicktown; Mrs. Catherine Miller, Cresson, and Mrs. Lena Snyder, Altoona. A brother and three sisters preceded him in death. Mr. Krug was a member of St. Francis Xavier's Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society.

Funeral services will be conducted at 9 o'clock Monday morning in St. Francis Xavier's Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Norman P. Casher, Cresson mortician.

 

MUNSTER TWP. CITIZEN EXPIRES AT WINDBER

CRESSON, Oct. 20--A month's illness terminated in the death of John Krug, aged 71, well known Munster township resident at 11:30 o'clock yesterday morning in the Windber hospital. He was admitted to that institution two weeks ago. His death was attributed to heart disease. Mr. Krug was a brother of Mrs. Christine (Krug) Yeckley, aged 80, of Carrolltown, and Mrs. Teresa (Krug) Beaver, aged 62, of Akron, O., who died in less than twenty-four hours of each another on Dec. 17, 1937.

Mr. Krug was born in Carroll township on Sept. 26, 1867, a son of Philip and Helena Magdeline (Loeffer - [sic--Lauffer]) Krug, pioneer settlers in northern Cambria county, both long deceased. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth (Illig) Krug; one daughter, Mrs. Esther Murphy, and two sons, Pius Krug and A.A. Krug, all of Cresson; sixteen grandchildren and two brothers, Jacob Krug of Emeigh Run and Edward Krug of Spangler, and four sisters, Mrs. Catherine Miller of Cresson, Mrs. Barbara Kusch of Nicktown, Mrs. Tillie Kline of Nicktown and Mrs. Lena Snyder of Altoona.

He was a devout member of St. Francis Xavier's Catholic church, Cresson, and also was identified with the Rosary society and the Holy Name society.
