FATHER AND SON.

Two Deaths in the Keirn Family at East Ridge.

A strange example of the uncertainty of life is reported from East Ridge, Clearfield County, this week. On Friday Mr. Nathan Keirn, one of the pioneer residents of that locality, died at the home of a married daughter in Altoona, at the great age of ninety-one years, ten months and nine days. On Monday his remains were brought to this place and taken to East Ridge for interment. Among the large circle of relatives present at the obsequies was Henry Keirn, son of the deceased, who had come from Allegheny, his place of residence, to attend the funeral. He was in excellent health and had an intimation that he was soon to follow his father to the great beyond. But on Monday night he went out of the house of his brother at East Ridge, and did not return. Those present soon became alarmed at his absence, and going out, found him lying dead in the yard. His death was caused by paralysis. Deceased was fifty-five years of age, and is survived by his wife and five children. His remains were embalmed by C. A. Buck, the undertaker, and on Wednesday morning shipped from this place to Allegheny for interment.

Nathan Keirn, whose death is first noted above, was one of the oldest and most respected citizens of Clearfield County. He leaves an uncommonly large circle of descendants, among whom are several great-grandchildren. He was an upright and exemplary Christian, and during his long life made many friends and did much good, and at his death was unanimously respected and esteemed.
