Poisoned by a Chicken Bone. A week ago Cornelius Vreeland, a farmer who lived at Dundee, between Patterson and Passaic, scratched his finger while carving a chicken at the dinner table. The knife slipped and the skin on his hand was lacerated by a fragment of bone. The injured [sic] pained him severely the next day, and two days later his arm was swollen to the shoulder, blood poisoning having set it. His entire body was swollen to almost twice its normal size, and he died in agony. |
