PORTAGE INFANT STRANGLES SELF Accidentally Falls Through Small Opening in the Crib; Mother Finds Bady [sic] Dead Portage, Sept. 22. -- Norma, the six-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Bowser, of Conemaugh street, this place, was strangled to death at the parental home late Tuesday afternoon, when she accidentally fell through a small opening in her crib. Her little head became fast and strangulation resulted. The mother was downstairs doing her housework at the time, having put the infant to bed. Mrs. Bowser was horrified when she went upstairs about two hours later to find her baby dead. Dr. S. D. Boucher was immediately summoned and an examination showed the child had been dead for about one hour before discovered. Coroner M. W. Swabb, of Johnstown, was notified. The deceased is survived by her parents and one sister, Virginia, aged two years. Funeral services were held at the Bowser home this afternoon and services were conducted by the Rev. B. F. Bungard, pastor of the local U.B. Church. Interment was made in Prospect Cemetery. |
