Covalt, Jo Ann, 86, Johnstown, passed away January 12, 2021. Born April 6, 1934 in Johnstown, daughter of the late Roy Jacob and Lillian Mae (Carney) Byers. Preceded in death by parents; loving husband of 60 years, Robert E. Covalt, whom she married April 18, 1953; and brothers, George Byers, Robert (Gene) Byers, and Reverend John (Jack) Byers. Survived by daughters, Cathy Jo and husband, Timothy D. Clawson, Tammie and husband, Wayne D. Potvin, Wendy and husband, Michael P. Hudak Jr., and Amy and husband, Leo J. Ratchford; grandsons, Joseph Ryan and wife, Tracey (Deyarmin), Daniel Ryan and wife, Lexis (Butler), and Robbie Ratchford; and 3 great grandsons, Kaleb Marcus and Guage Quinn Ryan, and Fletcher Heath Ryan. Jo Ann was a member of Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren where she served for many years as the pianist/organist. She loved music and could play almost any tune by memory. She enjoyed bird watching and loved all the animals that passed by her back porch. Jo Ann worked at the IRS in Johnstown for a number of years.
