Mr. Caspar Glitch, who died about 5 oclock last evening, at his residence in Stonycreek Township, near this city, was born in Landenhausen, Grossherzogthum, Hessen, Aug 21, 1821. He emigrated to the United States with his wife and one child in 1845, landing in New York. He came from there to Johnstown, and was a resident here until his death. He was the father of eleven children- three sons, Henry, Christian, and George, and eight daughters - Lizzie, Mary, Susan, Sophia, Louisa, Lena, Amelia, and Regina, all of whom are living, and all were at at his bedside but Henry, who is in Eureka Springs, Ark.; Christian who was out of town, and Lizzie and Susan, who reside at Braddock. Mr. Glitch was a machinist by trade and worked in the Cambria Iron shops for many years, but of late he had followed gardening. He was sick for over a year, but remained conscious to within a few minutes of his death. His father Christian Glitch, now eighty-three years of age, and a resident of Wilmore was at his bedside at the time of his death. Deceased was a man of very positive opinions and outspoken in his convictions. He wielded considerable influence among his German fellow-citizens, and was always regarded as a worthy member of the community.
