Johnstown, and they have a daughter, Edna; Russell, born July 16, 1897, died in an automobile accident, April 20, 1920. He was a veteran of the World war, having served with the Fifth Artillery, First Division, in France. He was a member of the American Legion. (3) Raymond, born May 1, 1905, engaged in the hotel business in Davisville, Pa. Mrs. Marcella died in November, 1909. W. A. McVicker is well known in Johnstown, where he has engaged in business for almost 20 years. He was born at Lavensville, in Somerset County, Pa., Sept. 20, 1856, and is the son of James and Mary (Snively) McVicker. James McVicker was born in Bedford County, Pa., and was an early settler of Somerset County, where he operated a tannery for a number of years. He was also a farmer and owned 200 acres of land. He was a Republican and a member of the Lutheran Church. To James and Mary (Snively) McVicker, eight children were born: Margaret, John, James, Esther, Mary, Martha and Frank, all deceased; and W. A., the subject of this sketch. Mrs. McVicker died in 1856, and Mr. McVicker was later married to Miss Ellen Cupett, of Bedford County, Pa. To this union three children were born: George, lives at Windber, Pa.; Duncan and Charles, deceased. Mr. McVicker is deceased. W. A. McVicker received his education in the district schools of Bedford County and lived at Claysburg for several years, where he engaged in the tinning business. He later lived at Stoyestown, Pa., for 25 years, and in 1907 removed to Johnstown, where he has since conducted a tinning and sheet metal business. His shop is located at 62`Coleman avenue. On Dec. 18, 1879, Mr. McVicker was united in marriage with Miss Elizabeth Hoover, of Claysburg, Pa., born Aug. 13, 1863. They have four children: Howard, lives on Horner St., Johnstown, Pa.; Ada, married H. G. Seigh, lives in Johnstown; Martha, a trained nurse, served with the Red Cross in France during the World war, married Elmer Volkman, lives in San Francisco, Cal.; and Kenneth, engaged in business with his father.
