first year was appointed principal of schools at that place. He served in this capacity for nine years, and in 1917 became identified with the Morris Run Coal Company as an accountant. In the fall of that year he went to Pittsburgh in the employ of the Carnegie Steel Company, and in June, 1918, enlisted for service during the World war, and was sent to Camp Meade, Md., and assigned to the Twenty-seventh Engineers. He was transferred to Camp Leach, Washington, D. C., and on Sept. 1, 1918, sailed for France. He participated in the Meuse-Argonne drive, and was discharged as a corporal in March, 1919. Mr. Husted was then identified with the Bethlehem Steel Company as an accountant at Heilwood, Pa., and in June, 1921, came to Spangler, as assistant cashier of the Keystone Bank. He was appointed to his present responsible position June 15, 1925.
In 1921 Mr. Husted was married to Miss Gertrude Griffith, a daughter of Charles and Adda (Wray) Griffith, natives of Indiana County, Pa. Mr. Griffith is deceased and his widow resides at Heilwood. Two sons have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Husted: Raymond G., Jr., born March 1, 1922; and Blair G., born Feb. 5, 1924.
Mr. Husted attends the Presbyterian Church, is a thirty-second degree Mason, and vice commander of the American Legion post at Spangler. He is a Republican.
M. Zeno Kirsch is among the successful business men of Spangler, where he is proprietor of the Economy Plumbing Company. He was born in Barr Township, Cambria County, Jan. 2, 1887, and is a son of Michael J. and Mary (Soisson) Kirsch.
Michael J. Kirsch, deceased, was a native of Cambria County and spent his entire life here. He died in November, 1924, and is buried at Nicktown. His widow resides at Spangler. Mr. Kirsch was a carpenter by trade and was employed by railroad companies in the building of trestles and by mines in the building of tipples. He was a Democrat and served as school director, county auditor, tax collector, and held various other public offices. He was a member of the Catholic Church. To Mr. and Mrs. Kirsch the following children were born: Michael, Mary, and Margaret, all deceased; Clema, a nurse, lives at Lancaster, Pa.; Linus, lives at Spangler; Leo A., lives at Spangler; F. D., lives at Nanty Glo;
