T. F. Dougherty was reared and educated at Lilly and began his business career as a teller in the First National Bank at Lilly. On May 15, 1920, he came to Spangler as assistant cashier of the First National Bank and was appointed cashier Jan. 1, 1925.
During the World war Mr. Dougherty enlisted Dec. 18, 1917, and was sent to Columbus Barracks, and later transferred to Scott Field, Danville, Ill., and assigned to Squadron A, Air Service. He was later sent to the University of Texas, where he was made a licensed wireless operator. From there he was sent to Ellington Field, Texas, where he was assigned to Squadron C, Air Service. He also served at Post Field, Fort Sill, Okla., and Camp Sherman, Chillicothe, Ohio. He was discharged in April, 1919.
In 1920 Mr. Dougherty was united in marriage with Miss Bernadette Moyer, a daughter of T. J. and Stella (Short) Moyer, natives of Cambria County. Mr. Moyer resides at Lilly, where he is general manager of the Gutwald Market. His wife is deceased. Mr. and Mrs. Dougherty have three daughters: Ann Louise, born in 1921; Mary Ruth, born in April, 1923, died in infancy; and Patsy Jane, born Aug. 18, 1924.
In politics Mr. Dougherty is identified with the Democratic party and he has served as auditor of Spangler. He is a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, fourth degree, and American Legion. He is accounted one of the reliable men of Cambria County and has a wide acquaintance.
J. Harrison Westover stands as a splendid representative of the legal profession in Cambria County and is among the most prominent citizens of Spangler. He was born at Hastings, Jan. 8, 1889, and is the son of John L. and Martina (Kirkpatrick) Westover.
John L. Westover was born in Susquehanna Township, Cambria County, in 1865, and died in 1916. He was the son of Joseph and Mary (Bartlebaugh) Westover. Joseph Westover, son of John and Nancy (Sechler) Westover, was born in 1835, in Susquehanna Township, and like his father engaged in farming and lumbering. John Westover was born in Blair County, Pa., in 1804, and when about 20 years of age removed to Susquehanna Township, Cambria County, where he passed his
