    Mr. Davis was married on June 4, 1908, to Miss Martha Hughes, of Ebensburg, the daughter of Thomas J. and Eliza J. (Ellis) Hughes, the former a native of Wales and the latter of Summerhill Township, Cambria County. Mr. Hughes died in March, 1918, and his wife died in 1882. To Mr. and Mrs. Davis three children were born: John H., died in infancy; Charles H., born in 1914; and Mary H., born in 1916.
    Mr. Davis is a Republican and has served as school director. He is a member of the Congregational Church and is affiliated with Summit Lodge F. & A. M., Portage Royal Arch Chapter, Oriental Commandery, Knights Templar, Jaffa Temple, Altoona, Highland Lodge, and Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He is well liked in the community where he has spent his entire life.




    Walter Jones, who ranks among the prominent attorneys of Cambria County, was born in Jackson Township, Cambria County, June 20, 1880, and is the son of Milton and Jane H. (Davis) Jones.
    Milton Jones, deceased, was a veteran of the Civil war. He was born in Cambria Township, Cambria County, Dec. 6, 1829, and died Nov. 26, 1908. He served in the Civil War as a member of Company F, 133rd Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, and was wounded during the battle of Fredericksburg. During his active career he was successfully engaged in the lumber business.
    Jane H. (Davis) Jones was born near Ebensburg, April 30, 1834, the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth (Roberts) Davis. Richard Davis had the following children: Elizabeth, born Nov. 7, 1820, died Nov. 28, 1884; William R., born Aug. 9, 1822; Catherine, born Oct. 19, 1824; Hannah, born Dec. 8, 1826; Timothy, born June 26, 1829; Thomas, born Oct. 7, 1831; Jane H. Davis, mother of the subject of this sketch; David, born Nov. 21, 1836; Martha, born Sept. 7, 1839; and Mary, born May 3, 1845. Mary (Davis) Stiles is the only survivor of this family. Mrs. Milton Jones died Aug. 1, 1915.
    To Milton and Jane H. (Davis) Jones the following children were born: Richard B., born in 1865, died in 1866; Kennard, born in 1867, died in 1868; William R., born in 1869, died Dec. 1, 1923; Charles Raymond, born April 20, 1873, lives in Ebensburg; Alice Elizabeth, born March 14, 1878, lives in Erie; and Walter, the subject of this sketch.
    Walter Jones received his early education in the public schools of Ebensburg. He attended Dickinson Preparatory School and studied law
