with Frank A. Shoemaker, Esq. Mr. Jones was admitted to the bar Oct. 24, 1904, and has since engaged in practice in Ebensburg. He formed a partnership in 1915 with C. R. Myers, which continued until 1920. Mr. Jones then practiced alone until 1923, when he became associated with George W. Griffith. They have an extensive practice and are widely known in the county.
    On Nov. 9, 1910, Mr. Jones was married in Philadelphia to Miss Edith DeWitt Metz, who was born at Hollidaysburg, Pa., May 30, 1884, the daughter of Thomas J. and Jennie M. (Patton) Metz. Both Mr. and Mrs. Metz, natives of Blair County, Pa., are deceased. Five children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Jones, as follows: Eleanor Jane, born June 2, 1912; Emory Walter, born Feb. 8, 1914; Thomas Milton, born June 4, 1917; Charles William, born April 30, 1920; and Edith Patricia, born June 26, 1925.
    Mr. Jones is a Republican and served as county solicitor from 1916 until 1924. During the World War he was appointed attorney for this district by this government and served as representative of the United States and attorney for Draft board No. 3, Cambria County. Mr. Jones holds membership in the Presbyterian Church, is a 32nd degree Mason, and belongs to the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He is president of the Ebensburg Golf Club.




    Henry Franklin Dorr, civil and mining engineer, with offices in Ebensburg, is among the representative and widely known citizens of Cambria County. He was born at East Liberty, Pittsburgh, Oct. 23, 1885, and is the son of John George and Laura Jane (Flemming) Dorr.
    John George Dorr, deceased, was a native of Westmoreland County, Pa., and his wife was born in Armstrong Township, Indiana county, Pa. Mr. Dorr was reared on a farm and later settled in Indiana County with his parents, where he lived until he reached the age of 21 years. He then worked as an apprentice bridge builder and followed that trade for number of years, after which he engaged in the building business for himself, at which he continued until shortly before his death, which occurred May 9, 1922. His wife died in August, 1895, and they are buried in Oakland Cemetery, Indiana, Pa. To Mr. and Mrs. Dorr were born five children: Mrs. Eva M. Mayers, deceased; Mrs. Alice Thompson, lives at Camden, N. J.; John Elwood, with the U. S. Navy in China; Enos, lives at Wilkinsburg, Pa.; and Henry Franklin, the subject of this sketch.
