After completing his early schooling at Mt. Union, Dr. Fred H. McClain attended Pennsylvania State College, where he took three years of pre-medic work, and in June, 1923, was graduated from the School of Dentistry, University of Pittsburgh. He practiced his profession at Indiana, Pa., for two years and on June 1, 1925, located in Ebensburg, where he has already built up a splendid practice. Doctor McClain enlisted in the Medical Department, U. S. Army, May 28, 1918, and was honorably discharged May 28, 1919, at Camp Devens, Mass. Edward Humphrey is a substantial and highly esteemed citizen of Ebensburg and Cambria County. He was born at Smith's Mills, Clearfield County, Pa., Jan. 7, 1872, and is the son of Elias and Elizabeth (Stoddard) Humphrey. Elias Humphrey was a native of Bangor, Maine, and his wife was born in Scotland. He was interested in the lumber business at Clearfield, Pa. He resided for a number of years at Patton, Cambria County, and for many years was a member of the firm of Humphrey & Flynn. Both Mr. and Mrs. Humphrey are deceased. They had four children, as follows: Edward, the subject of this sketch; George, interested in the mining business, lives in Patton, Pa.; Lillie, married David Lewis, deceased, and she is now proprietor of the Grand Central Hotel at Windber, Somerset County, Pa.; and Anna, married James Forsyth, lives at Patton. Edward Humphrey attended the public schools of Clearfield County and in early life engaged in the lumber business. Later, he was connected with the railroad and is now a traveling representative, with headquarters in Ebensburg. On May 16, 1906, Mr. Humphrey was married to Miss Cordelia Buterbaugh, of Indiana County, Pa., the daughter of Solomon Buterbaugh, deceased. Mr. and Mrs. Humphrey have had two children: Glen, lives in Pittsburgh; and Norman, deceased. |
