July 18, 1921; (2) William D., born June 17, 1888, lives at home; Dora M., born March 17, 1891, married N. Dean Rowland, son of Ellworth and Amanda Rowland, and they have a son, N. Dean, Jr., born Feb. 23, 1923, live at Elizabeth, Pa., where Mr. Rowland is a druggist; (4) Freida K., married Earl Evans, son of Richard and Sarah Evans, of Ebensburg, and they have two children, Henrietta, born July 25, 1920, and Mahlan, born in 1922; (5) Mary A., born Oct. 31, 1897, married Sherman D. Griffith, son of Daniel and Mary A., born July 19, 1923; (6) Carl Mason, born April 19, 1899, was graduated from Ebensburg High School in 1918, and that year enlisted for service in the Student Army training Corps at Indiana, Pa. He died at Ebensburg, May 17, 1920, and is buried in Lloyd Cemetery; (7) and Fritz Krebs, born Aug. 19, 1901, was graduated from Ebensburg High School in 1922, and from the School of Dentistry, University of Pittsburgh, in 1926.
    Mrs. Owens was appointed matron of the Cambria County Home by the board of directors in 1915. She is especially well qualified to fill this responsible position.
    Politically Mr. Owens is a Republican. He is a member of the Congregational Church and the Independent order of Odd Fellows. He has always been one of the enterprising men of his community.




    Alfred M. Shoemaker, who is successfully engaged in the practice of law at Ebensburg, is a prominent citizen of Cambria County. He was born in Ebensburg, Sept. 15, 1880, and is the son of James Albert and Mary V. (McDonald) Shoemaker.
    James Albert Shoemaker, deceased, was a son of Edward and Mary (Hanson) Shoemaker, born at Ebensburg April 3, 1843. He spent most of his life in Ebensburg. He was a Civil engineer and surveyor and also was extensively interested in the contracting business. He died Oct. 14, 1902, and his wife died Feb. 3, 1914. They are buried at Ebensburg. To Mr. and Mrs. Shoemaker the following children were born. Mrs. Mary E Lloyd, died in 1925; Albert Joseph, lives at Ebensburg; Edward Philip, lives at Ardmore, Okla.; Dr. Walter Raymond, lives at Wilmerding, Pa., where he is engaged in the practice of medicine; Dr. Donald Henry, a dentist, lives in Pittsburgh; Mrs. Fannie S. Evans, lives at Ebensburg; Miss Theila R., lives in Pittsburgh; and A. M., the subject of this sketch.
