Brethren Church. His wife was born in Bedford County, Pa. Mr. and Mrs. Wissinger are the parents of seven children, as follows: Milton R., lives in Johnstown; A. C., the subject of this sketch; Harry L., deceased; Jessie, married Rev. G. H. Jones, pastor of the Brethren Church, East Conemaugh; C. Earl, lives at Johnstown; Edgar and Viola, deceased.
    A. C. Wissinger spent his boyhood in Stony Creek Township and attended the district schools. He then entered the employ of the Cambria Steel Company and in 1904 learned the tinner's trade in Johnstown. In July, 1921, in partnership with H. E. Metzler, Mr. Wissinger organized the Nanty Glo Tinning Company. They are local dealers for the Waterbury Furnace Company, Bucks Stove and Range Company, Fox Furnace Company, and Wagner Awning Company. They do all kinds of sheet metal work, as well as house and sign painting.
    In 1898 Mr. Wissinger was united in marriage with Miss Emma Rhoades, and to this union two children were born: Roy E., lives at Greensburg, Pa., married Ruth Miller, and they have two children, Betty Maud and John C.; and Merle C., lives at Detroit, Mich. In 1920 Mr. Wissinger was married to Miss Mary Varley.
    Mr. Wissinger is a Republican, a member of the United Brethren Church and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.




    E. A. Shanley is one of Nanty Glo's well known and successful young business men. He was born in Westmoreland County, Pa., Jan. 19, 1891, and is the son of Edward E. and Anna Jane (Connors) Sharley.
    Edward E. Shanley was a native of the Rosecommon, Ireland, and his wife was born in Scotland. They came to this country shortly after their marriage and settled in Westmoreland County, where Mr. Shanley worked in the mines. He later became a mine foreman and was living retired at the time of his death in 1916. His wife died the following year. He was a Republican and a member of the Catholic Church. To Mr. and Mrs. Shanley eight children were born, as follows: Frank, lives at Greensburg, Pa.; Anna, married Daniel McCartney, lives retired in New York City; John, a mine superintendent, lives at Tralee, W. Va.; Mary E., married John Tweess, lives at Blairsville, Pa.; E. A., the subject of this sketch, Rose, married John Hobart, lives at Fillbert, Ia.; Agnes, married Charles Murray, lives at Vertarburg, pa.; and Elizabeth, married John McTugue, lives at Vestarburg, Pa.
