Hopple, lives at Spangler; Norman, associated in business with his father; Margaret and Louise, both at home. Daniel Robert Lovette, supervising principal of Hastings public schools, is among the representative citizens of Cambria County. He was born at Lock Haven, Pa., Feb. 4, 1884, and is the son of John T. and Mary (Cree) Lovette. John T. Lovette, deceased, was born in New York in 1837 and came to Pennsylvania in early life. He was a farmer and in later life was extensively engaged in the lumber business near Lock Haven. He was a Democrat, served as school director, and was a member of the Catholic Church. He died in 1919. His wife, who was born in Lock haven in 1851, died in 1907. To Mr. and Mrs. Lovette 15 children were born, only one of whom is deceased, James, who died in 1920. Daniel Robert Lovette attended the public schools and Lock Haven Normal School, after which he attended Pennsylvania State College. Before completing his schooling he engaged in farming with his father. He began his teaching career in Clinton County, Pa., after which he taught four years in Sullivan County and three years at St. Benedict, in Cambria County. He later served as principal of the schools at Dunlo, and in 1918 was appointed supervising principal of Hastings public schools. On Aug. 19, 1919, Mr. Lovette was married to Miss Anna Flynn, of Patton, the daughter of Jeremiah and Ellen (O'Donnell) Flynn. The former died in 1920, and the latter resides at Patton. There were eight children in the Flynn family: Mrs. Lovette; Kathleen, at home; Ella, lives in Ohio; Thomas, lives in Pittsburgh; and Jeremiah, a graduate of St. Francis College, now a student at Fribourg Cathlic University in Switzerland. To Mr. and Mrs. Lovette four children have been born: Mary Eleanor, born May 11, 1920; Bernard, born Aug. 1, 1921; Doris, born June 4, 1923; and Ralph, born April 4, 1925. Mr. Lovette is a Democrat, a member of the Catholic Church and fourth degree Knight of Columbus. He is thoroughly capable in his work and is intensely interested in every movement for civic improvement. |
