892 HISTORY OF CAMBRIA COUNTY

    W. Howard Weston, postmaster at Gallitzin, is a veteran of the World War and substantial citizen of Cambria County. He was born at Gallitzin May 17, 1888, and is a son of William H. and Anna (Roberts) Weston.
    William H. Weston is a native of Center County, Pa., born April 27, 1863. His wife was born near Youngstown, Ohio. Mr. Weston has successfully engaged in the general mercantile business at Gallitzin for a number of years, where he is well known.
    W. Howard Weston attended the public schools of Gallitzin and Allegheny College, and until April, 1925, was associated in business with his father. He has since served as postmaster.
    During the World War Mr. Weston served in France with the 317th Field Hospital, 80th Division.
    Mr. Weston was married to Miss Elsie Carlson, of Gallitzin, a daughter of Edward and Augusta Carlson. The former is deceased and the latter resides at Gallitzin. Mr. and Mrs. Weston have two children: Louise, born Aug. 8, 1920; and Robert B., born Aug. 18, 1923.
    Mr. Weston is a member of the Presbyterian Church and has served as treasurer and member of the board of trustees for several years. He is affiliated with the Masonic Lodge and Board of Trade of Gallitzin. He is a Republican.




    Dr. W. F. Hancuff, who has practice his profession at Gallitzin for the past 10 years, is among the capable and efficient dentists of Cambria County. He was born in this village, April 17, 1894, and is a son of W.R. and Annie (Yeckley) Hancuff.
    W. R. Hancuff was born on a farm near Williamsburg, Pa., March 22, 1861, and for the past 40 years has been a resident of Gallitzin. He was engaged in the livery business for a number of years, and is now doing draying and moving. Mrs. Hancuff was born in Gallitzin in 1866, a daughter of George Yeckley, a native of Germany, who located in Gallitzin in the early days and was a miner. He died at the age of 75 years and is buried in the Union Cemetery at Summit, Cambria County. Mrs. Hancuff died April 1, 1915, and is buried in Gallitzin. To Mr. and Mrs. Hancuff nine children were born, two of whom died in infancy, Mary, aged four years, and Harry.
    W. F. Hancuff was reared in Gallitzin and received his early education in the public and high schools, after which he attended the University
