of Pittsburgh, from which he was graduated in 1917. He returned to this village and began the practice of his profession and has met with success.
    On. Jan. 7, 1918, Mr. Hancuff was married at Wheeling, W.Va., to Miss Alice McNeil, of Gallitzin, who was a teacher in the Johnstown schools. They have a daughter, Anna Madeline.
    Doctor Hancuff is a Republican and Mrs. Hancuff is a Democrat. He is a member of the ex-service men of Gallitzin, and belongs to the Delta Sigma Delta fraternity, and the family are members of the Presbyterian Church.




    Dr. D.T. Powelson, who is widely known as a successful physician and surgeon of Johnstown, is a native of Pennsylvania. He was born at Jacksonville, in Westmoreland County, in 1872, and is the son of John and Hattie (Boyers) Powelson.
    John Powelson, deceased, was a veteran of the Civil War. He was born in Westmoreland County, Pa., and became a well known building contractor at Homestead. He served throughout the Civil War with Company H, 136th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, and was discharged as a first corporal. He was wounded in the service. Mr. Powelson was a Republican, a member of the Methodist Church, Grand Army of the Republic, and Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He died Feb. 11, 1914, at the age of 75 years, and his wife died in 1911 at the age of 72 years. Mr. and Mrs. Powelson had five children: Jennie, married William Ford, lives in Pittsburgh; Mary, married Robert Gibbs, both deceased; Sadie, died at the age of 11 years; William, lives retired at Homestead, Pa.; and Dr. D.T., the subject of this sketch.
    Dr. D.T. Powelson received his early education in the public schools and was graduated from Duff College, Pittsburgh, and in 1897 received his degree as Doctor of Medicine from the Georgia College of Medicine and Surgery. He engaged in the practice of his profession at Homestead and remained there for 17 years. Doctor Powelson has been located in Johnstown since March, 1914, and has a well established practice, with offices at 530 Vine Street.
    On June 20, 1900, Doctor Powelson was united in marriage with Miss Ida B. Leopold, of Somerset County, Pa. To them four children have been born: Leona Alberta, born May 17, 1901, was graduated from Indiana State Normal School and engaged in teaching in Johnstown High School
