HISTORY OF CAMBRIA COUNTY 983

Rev. Adrian L. Krakowski, pastor of St. George's Catholic Church of Patton, ranks among the representative and influential citizens of Cambria County. He was born in Chicago, Ill., July 24, 1887, and is the son of Joseph A. and Evelynne (Moys) Krakowski.
Both Joseph A. Krakowski and his wife were born in Czecho-Slovakia. Owing to political persecution of the Hungarian government, they left their native land and emigrated to the United States. They settled in Chicago, where Mr. Krakowski was associated with the McCormick Company until his death, Jan. 23, 1917. He is buried in St. Adelbert's Cemetery, Chicago. His widow lives at Patton. Mr. and Mrs. Krakowski had four children: Rev. Adrian L., the subject of this sketch; Sister M. Sybille, O. S. B., Chicago; Casimer and Rudolph, deceased.
Rev. Adrian L. Krakowski attended St. Aloysius School, Chicago; St. Vincent's College, Beatty, Pa., and St. Vincent's Seminary. After his ordination he was a professor at St. Vincent's College. His first pastorate was St. Benedict's Church, Marguerite, Pa., after which he was transferred to Patton as pastor of St. George's Church.

    C. E. Brunner, candy manufacturer, is among the well known business men of Johnstown.
He was born at Bethlehem, Pa., and is the son of Owen J. and Clara (Hartzel) Brunner. His parents are residents of Bethlehem, Pa.
    C. E. Brunner received his education in Bethlehem, Pa., and is a graduate of Bethlehem High School. He studied structural engineering and was employed by the Bethlehem Construction Company for a year as an engineer. He then went to Philadelphia, where he worked for two years in structural engineering. After leaving Philadelphia he came to Johnstown and was connected with the Cambria Steel Company for eight years in the capacity of a draftsman and engineer.
Mr. and Mrs. Brunner started making candy in their home. So successful was the undertaking that Mr. Brunner gave up his position to devote his entire time to the candy business. The first place of business was located at 800 Broad Street and incorporated under the name of Brunner & Company. It was not long before they outgrew this place, and in the spring of 1926 removed to the Rose Building, rear of the Johnstown Trust Company.
