1026 HISTORY OF CAMBRIA COUNTY

Elizabeth, teachers, live at Wilmore; and Thomas J., was killed in an automobile accident in Johnstown in 1920, at the age of 21 years.
    E. E. Hughes received his education in the public schools of Wilmore and remained on the home farm until he was 19 years of age. He was employed in Johnstown in various capacities until 1916, when he removed to Portage, where he has since resided. He is a director and secretary of the Portage Building and Loan Association and local representative of the Reliance Life Insurance Company.
    On June 24, 1912, Mr. Hughes was married to Miss Lura Sherbine, of Wilmore, the daughter of Wallace Sherbine, of Portage. Mr. And Mrs. Hughes have three children; Robert Sherbine, Alice Jean, and Ruth Ann.
    Mr. Hughes is a Republican. He is president of the school board, and a member of the board of health. He holds membership in the United Brethren Church, Masonic Lodge, Ebensburg; Consistory, Williamsport; Shrine Club, Altoona; and Knights of Malta, portage. He has a wide acquaintance in Cambria County.




    L. M. Sanderson is a prosperous business man and prominent citizen of Lilly and Cambria County. He was born in Perry County, Pa., Oct. 15, 1871, and is the son of Samuel and Mary (Holenbaugh) Sanderson.
    Samuel Sanderson, deceased, was a native of Perry County, Pa. He was a large land owner and leading farmer of that section for many years. He died in 1919, at the age of 74 years, and his widow died in 1921. Both are buried in Bloomfield Cemetery, in Perry County. To Mr. And Mrs. Sanderson four children were born: John, lives in California; Anna, deceased, was the wife of Joseph Delancey; L. M., the subject of this sketch; and George W., and engineer on the Pennsylvania Railroad, lives in Allegheny County, Pa.
    L. M. Sanderson spent his boyhood at Bloomfield and attended the schools there. He began his business career in the employ of John R. Adams, with whom he remained for five years. He then went to Harrisburg, Pa., with Forster & Williamson for three years, after which he located at Lilly, where he has engaged in business for more than 30 years. He is a local agent for the Overland and Willys-Knight automobiles, as well as the Oakland and Pontiac cars. He has extensive business interests
