HISTORY OF CAMBRIA COUNTY 1045

    H. Lee Wilson, city engineer, is a prominent citizen of Johnstown. He was born in this city, Sept. 21, 1886, and is the son of H. H. and Kate (Decker) Wilson.
    H. H. Wilson, retired, has been a resident of Johnstown for a number of years, where he was employed by the Lorain Steel Company. Mrs. H. H. Wilson died Nov. 8, 1925.
    H. Lee Wilson attended the Johnstown public schools and, after his graduation from high school in 1905, he entered the employ of the Cambria Steel Company, after having studied engineering by private tutoring and home study. He was connected with this plant from 1903 until 1905, at which time he became identified with the city engineer's office under M. Lee Masterton, city engineer. He was connected with the Southern Cambria Railroad from 1907 until 1912, when he returned to the city engineer's office. Since October, 1920, Mr. Wilson has been city engineer.
    On Jan. 10, 1920, Mr. Wilson was united in marriage with Miss Florence Wallace, the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Wallace of Johnstown. They have a son, Wallace Lee, born June 12, 1923.
    Mr. Wilson is a Republican, a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Masonic Lodge, Sons of Veterans, and Patriotic Order of Sons of America. He is a capable man in his profession and a representative citizen of Cambria County.




    Rev. John Martvon is widely known in Johnstown, where he is pastor of St. Stephans Slovak Catholic Church. He was born in Slovakia, Jan. 5, 1857, and was ordained to the priesthood in his native land, April 15, 1884.
    Reverend Martvon came to this country in 1889 and was identified with the Cleveland diocese as pastor of St. Ladislaus Church for two years. He then came to Johnstown, and in March, 1894, was made pastor of St. Stephans church. During his pastorate the parish has enjoyed a remarkable growth. Extensive improvements have been made in the church and school buildings and there are now over 900 pupils enrolled, who are under the supervision of the sisters from Joliet, Ill. Reverend Martvon's assistant is Rev. Anthony Coby.
    Several other parishes have sprung from the original church of St. Stephans, among them being St. Mary's Greek Catholic, St. Rochas' Croatian, St. Casimir's Polish Church, St. Emericus Magyar, SS. Peter and Paul, and St. Francis Church.
