1082 HISTORY OF CAMBRIA COUNTY

    Robert C. Rhodes is a representative young business man of Johnstown, where he is treasurer and general manager of the City Bakery, Inc. He is a native of Pennsylvania, born at Saxton, in Bedford County, May 30, 1892, and is the son of Dr. Thomas and Margaret (Aiper) Rhodes.
    Dr. Thomas Rhodes, deceased, was a well known dentist at Saxton for a number of years. His widow resides at that place.
    Robert C. Rhodes received his education in the public schools of Saxton and attended Juniata Business College, after which he engaged in the bakery business at Saxton. He has been connected with the City Bakery, Inc., since its establishment in September, 1925. The other officers of the company are: George Panagotacos, president, and Michael Panagotacos, vice president. This business was formerly the Liberty Baking Company. It is among the most sanitary and up-to-date bakeries in the city and already has a well established trade. It carries on a wholesale business exclusively and operates six trucks throughout Johnstown and vicinity.
    On Jan. 16, 1920, Mr. Rhodes married Miss Ruth Petricken, the daughter of A.E. and Carrie Petricken. They have a son, Louis.
    Mr. Rhodes is a Republican, a member of the Reformed Church and is affiliated with the Masonic Lodge.




    Fred W. Goller is a progressive business man and substantial citizen of Johnstown, where he is proprietor of the Johnstown Spring Works. He is a native of Johnstown, born Jan. 15, 1873, and the son of Joseph and Laura (Geiger) Goller.
    Both Joseph and Laura (Geiger) Goller were natives of Germany and early settlers of Johnstown, where he was for many years employed by the Lorain Steel Company as a machinist. Mr. and Mrs. Goller are deceased.
    Fred W. Goller attended the parochial schools of Johnstown and when a young man entered the employ of the Cambria Steel Company, where he learned his trade as a machinist. He later went West for several years and upon his return to Johnstown he engaged in the manufacture of springs in the employ of W. G. Mitchell. Mr. Goller is one of the pioneers in this industry in the city and specializes in the making of automobile springs. His well equipped shop is located at 93 Cherry Street.
