The Guaranty Commercial Acceptance Company is among the representative business houses of the city and deals in first mortgage loans. In the company's statement of Dec. 31, 1924, the total assets and liabilities each amounted to $260,678.09. D. H. Wendall is recognized as one of the successful business men of Johnstown, with offices at 531 Swank Building. He was born at Somerset, Pa., Nov. 13, 1888, and is a son of Samuel M. and Tillie (Sipe) Wendall. Mr. Sipe, for many years a prosperous merchant at Ferndale, is deceased. D. H. Wendall was reared and educated at Somerset and began his business career with the Johnstown Grocery Company, wholesale grocers, with whom he was identified for 13 years. He then established his present business in 1920. Mr. Wendall represents manufacturers and jobbers and has a sales agency for sand, stone, gravel, slag, brick, building blocks and coal. His extensive business operations are carried on throughout Western Pennsylvania. He is identified with the following companies: Duntile Building Block Company, Railroad Sand Corporation, Canal Creek Stone Company, and the Pennsylvania Glass Sand Company. On Aug. 25, 1910, Mr. Wendall was married to Miss Edna Peal Wendall, a daughter of David and Sarah Wendall. They have a son, Billie Hall. Mr. Wendall is a Republican, a member of the United Brethren Church, and is affiliated with the Masonic Lodge. Dr. Ralph W. Wolford is a successful and well known young dentist of Johnstown, with offices in the Johnstown Trust Building. He was born in this city, Dec. 30, 1893, and is a son of Harry H. and Elizabeth (Morris) Wolford, residents of Johnstown, where Mr. Wolford is with the Bethlehem Steel Company. Ralph W. Wolford attended the public schools and entered the Johnstown High School with the class of 1914, but completed his course in three years, being graduated in 1913. He then entered the Medico-Chirurgical College of Philadelphia, where he received his degree in 1916. He then returned to Johnstown and opened his present offices. On June 4, 1918, Doctor Wolford was married to Miss Mildred Jane Dwyer, a daughter of Eugene A. and Maude (Anstead) Dwyer. Mr. Dwyer |
